So I see a local 1992 Winnebago 454tbi/4l80e with only 28k miles on it for $1500. No road worthy due to rust and hail damage. Runs well. Might be a good deal.

Instead of getting a Holley Sniper kit...this might be a good donor for a budget friendly upgrade from my current 1985 454/th400?
I'd love to have the 4l80e !!
If I do this swap, I'll go for a divorced np205.
Any swap issues I should be aware of ?
I may need to move quick on this if it is a good runner!

Are you planning to keep the TBI and wiring harness from the camper? If not you'll need a stand alone computer for the 4l80e, they aren't all that cheap. Somewhere around 4-600.00

Will not need a stand alone just need the wiring from the the Winnie. Will work fine with a divorced unless it is in low then the auto shift part will be off.

I'll use all the wiring from the donor to run the TBI and 4l80e.
Will leave the engine stock.
Are these 454tbi ok for power/torque? I hear mixed thoughts.
My current 454 has a mild RV cam, otherwise stock....so if it is equal to that but with tbi and OD than I'll be happy.

I believe so, or I hope so.
I have a 93 from a 4x4 suburban I am going to put in my 74 suburban.

The motor home 454s are usually a forged lower end. So that's a win... But 28k on one is usually about equal to 100k on a normal vehicle because that motor WORKS hard. Still should be quite fine though with that low.

a divorced 205 is o.k. if you have the wheel base length .

and some motor homes got even longer trans with parking brake on the tail . this would shove the divorced 205 back even more .

Yeah, I was thinking of removing the parking brake on the end of the trans (if this had one...not sure yet). I have seen the parking brakes on TH400 from motorhomes but haven't seen a 4l80e yet.
131" wb stock K30. I was going to measure up the space available to check.
I will look into mounting directly to the 4l80e, but I think there was a lot involved. I'll see what the cost vs divorced is.
Long weekend here today...hopefully I can connect with seller...seems he is at the beach right now!

I did a divorced 205 on a long bed for a guy it worked good .

he had 4speed 2wd and divorced 205 . mounted in the middle for same length front/rear shafts and around 15" middle shaft with slip on shaft .

he also had around 16" of lift on suspension . so 1410 joint shaft were required . and then angle was steep .
