A few years back I bought this truck from a buddy with a little over 100k on it. It had a 454, NV4500, NP241, FF14 and it ran awesome. Really comfortable truck. I drove it until 2018 when the clutch went out and then it developed a knock shortly thereafter. Unfortunately, it has been parked ever since.

Well, I pulled the 454 out a few months back without a plan and finally decided last week to toss my 146k mile 6.0 in it.

I don't really refer to this truck as a tow rig or anything of that nature because it generally slides to the front of my DD list due to it being some comfy. Captains chairs, relatively squishy suspension, it's just nice to drive, but in I generally do use it to tow my Jeep and whatever else since it is the most HD truck I own.

I tossed the 6.0 on a stand and degreased and power washed the hell out of it. I ordered a few new gaskets that were leaking like pan and RMS and a few other odds and ends. I'm gonna bring it to a buddy's shop and run it on a stand that he has just to make sure everything is solid before going through the trouble of swapping it. Once I get the engine home I'll get it all buttoned up and send the whole truck back to his house for him to finish up the wiring and all that jazz.

I'll upload a few pics from my phone shortly.

It was pouring outside all wknd here in S. TX. No better time to power wash a greasy engine.

Since it's been 2 years, I'll give a small update.

As of right now the engine, tranny and xfercase are back in the truck. I have a ton of parts on order to finish it. I also had the tranny and xfercase rebuilt recently too so it's all pretty well freshened up.

I need to change all the u joints and get the dshafts mounted back into the truck. I have all the AN fittings on the way to hook up the fuel. I want to clean up and maybe paint all the brackets and get the front accessories mounted. Exhaust manifolds are on the way and then I can get the exhaust hooked back up. After all that my buddy will come get it and we will head to his house for wiring and final details.

Here's a pic from a few years back when it was running with the 454 and a pic of the 6.0 in its final resting spot.

The punch in the balancer was to keep it from turning while I bolted the flywheel down.

No issues.

Things are moving forward. Took the driveshafts to work and sandblasted everything and began reassembly but ran out of time. Will finish that little project up next week. I also bought the wrong carrier bearing so that didn't help keep things moving.

I also blasted the PS and alt bracket.

Came home and started organizing the rest of the parts into groups for installation. Getting a little late and gotta be dad for the remainder of the evening but this weekend should yield some solid progress.

Looks slightly more engine like. I have everything need to complete this, just a matter of time going outside and bolting things on.

I was originally going to reuse the old power steering pump that came on the motor (140k) but I just couldn't do it. I ordered a new AC Delco one earlier today and a few drive shaft parts I messed up when removing U joints. I really want to get this damn power steering pump installed ASAP so I can permanently mount the bracket and start mounting all the other accessories. The ITC AC relocation bracket arrived also. Really coming along now. Not much longer.

Where will that but the compressor? Do you have to relocate the alternator. Not trying to thread jack but I'm going to be doing a similar swap to my brother's 99 2500 obs. He wants ac in the truck so I'm trying to figure everything out prior to starting.

Here you go.

Compressor isn't firmly mounted since I need to redo the lines but this is where it will sit.
