1993 Mustang

Monday update mothafackas!!!

Got the overflow bottle mounted up all nice like with a hose ran to it. The difference in size between the radiator outlet and the overflow bottle was cause for a little hackeryness. It's out of sight enough and overall not too hackery that I'm ok with it. Alt mounts are all dialed in. Coolant hoses are all on. Few more things off the list!

Well, I got all my vacuum lines ran and manifold mounted. Got my fuel lines all mounted and ran. I plugged the ECM in to prime the fuel system and check for leaks, I found a leak when the quick connect blew off on the pressure side. It may not have been fully seated, or it could be the fuel pressure regulator was cranked up to 80 PSI. And the pump was running constantly. Also, I had no CEL. Looking into the pump run on I diagnosed (with the help of this place) the ECM was bad. Opening the box revealed two bad capacitors. Overnighted them from Amazon and soldered them in yesterday. Plugged the box in and there was pump came on for a prime then shut off, just like it should. Still had no CEL. I put led bulbs in the cluster, and I wonder if the ECM wants to/needs to see the resistance of an incandescent bulb. So I pulled the LED, put a standard bulb in and wham-bam I got a CEL. At this point I saw no reason to not fire that mother up. Did a quick once over and realized I didn't have a PS hose on, handled that with only two trips to the parts store. Filled up the cooling system. And cranked her up.

She lit off right away. Lil tweeking on the dizzy got the idle in line. No oil leaks. One tiny little coolant leak. No PS leaks. No weird noises. Well, one weird noise. A whistle. A little research points to the throttle body. Today I will be taking some steps to end that. Or tossing it in the trash and getting a new one. One to the pictures...

I believe these are the connectors I used. DT Series 12-Way Connectors

I'm not up on the specifics. I got a guy, gets me connectors what fell off a truck. The braided loom I got from Amazon.

She goes on her maiden voyage tomorrow!

Well, Sunday she moved under her own power! And it drove... terrible. Brakes had no power assist, so it was a two block ride. I dug in and figured out the power assist issue, turned out to be a vaccum issue. Got that daled an and took it for a few progressively longer rides. By tuesday night, I had 30 miles on it. No problems except for clutch adjustment. Wednesday I had it aligned. Drove it to work today and put 20-30 miles after. The car drive awesome. Looks great. Rides great. It is just too cool! Few little odds end ends to iron out. The worst being the key buzzer goes off damn near all the time. It sounds like the rario room on the Titanic driving it, lol!

Sounds great, did a double take on the IRS.. can't say that I've seen that! Isnthat a cobra transplant? Subbed

Thanks! Yeah the irs is from a 1999 Cobra. 99, 01, 03, and 04 cobra are irs. And since they never changed the chassis of these cars 79-04, the irs subframe bolts in with relative ease.

First fireup was pretty choppy, sounds like it's smoothed out quite bit. Still heard just a little bit of whistle at the one stoplight. Almost sounds like a fuel pump.
