I just bought this rig...

... and was trying ta go up a slight hill on wet grass. I put it in low 4, and it started jumping, like a slipping wheel, or something. I tried it a few days ago, and same result. 4 high seemed fine, but of coarse, no low gear help.

I've never had the newer IFS style, just lotsa' older staight axle, as seen in vid.

Could I get an explanation? Or a link to an older post... A good friend has a '99 6.5 Tahoe with electric switching. How does that work???

I also tried driving on dry pavement, and it wasn't happy, so obviously, no center differential...

I also want to change the tranny oil. Is this a deep pan or not, the truck is parked a few miles away. Is the diff the "E" in the online listing? This is a mechanical injection 6.5 Turbo, so no compooper???

I think your right as far as the computer goes.. unless it's a 3/4 ton and has a 4L80E in it(in which case it should have a stand alone computer for the trans).

On the earlier Chevy's that are IFS there is a switch under the front of the truck that does not let the truck engage in 4wd. I don't know the name of it right now but I will check on it and get back to you but that is one thing you can check on.
