Looks like I need to swap in a new power steering pump in the jimmy.

It has a Motor out of a 93 suburban in it. Took a quick look at how to take it off but wanted some advice before I start ripping into it.

looks like there is an allen type open center in the shaft, so do you first need to take the pulley off this style to remove the pump? It appears the bolts that hold the pump to the bracket are behind the pulley. So somebody give me power steering pump removal 101 class. I haven't bothered to pick up a manual for this motor yet. Just don't want to take off more stuff than I need to.

Obviously take the serp belt off, then maybe take the pulley off. Any special tools required? Then remove mounting bolts and obviously the lines.

Thanks.

You need to remove the pulley in order to remove the bolts holding the pump to the bracket. Yes the shaft is threaded on the end and is broached for an allen but the allen portion doesn't get used for anything. The threaded hole is for using the remover/installation tool to remove and put the pulley back on with.

and just a fyi if you needed to remove the whole aluminum bracket for the alt & p/s pump on that side you also need to remove the p/s pump as there is 1 hidden bolt behind the pump that holds the bracket on the motor .

but yes scott ( 4x4high ) got ya covered. :thumb:
