1995 C1500 Build-Phase 1 complete

small little update, finally got around to getting the smog done (was afraid i'd have to pay a little "extra" cash to get it to pass, but it went thru no problems) so now they will release the new title & reg and all that.

also ordered my new coil springs. found a set of rough country 2" lift springs, i'm hoping that should put the truck at a fairly level level stance overall. worse case maybe a small .5-1" block shim needed out back. going to probably end up with some cheap steelies mounted with some 31" AT's.

doing that and getting the AC fixed will just about round out phase 1 of this thing.

As of yesterday
All the fluids were changed.
AC compressed was replaced and recharged
New trans filter install

Going to order new ball joints to do when I do the coils and hopefully get that done in the next two weeks. Nice to have AC/defrost in this truck

Update
As of last night truck now has
2" lift coils
New tie rods, ball joints, idler arm. Brakes at all 4 corners. New front shocks.
Was supposed to get new rear shocks but even tho the application shows for a 1" lift rear, an my rear is currently stock, some how the shocks are like 3" too short?
Oh well. I need to get a small block for the rear anyway as the front lifted 1-2" taller than the rear so I want to level it out. Ill play with that when I get there.

On a more project orientation side..., I got into this truck with grand dreams and all that, but after getting the '81 to play with. I'm going to keep things simple. Basically the only left to do on this project is put in a stereo to replace the one that just got stolen out of it.
Put in an alarm to hopefully keep the new stereo in it,
Rebuild the trans an replace engine when they get so tired they don't function, put another 192k on it and replace what needs replacing as it goes. Much simpler

After

Much better. Feels like a truck finally. The down side of it is the tie rod ends are maxed at ride height so bigger bumps they bind up. Think I'm gonna let the coils settle a bit and see where we stand.

i promise you that "a bit" is putting it mildly. they are ****ing terrible in real life. as soon as i get a few days off theyr'e getting sprayed black to get me by until i get new tires.

Finally got around to that. Looks better to me. Or at least. Less bad.
Also. Passenger door bushings and pin finally got bad enough that the interior panel was catching and it was turning into a battle just to open the door each time. Finally got those replaced before my plastic got destroyed. Knew they were an issue before because of the door handle being busted. So check that off the list. Ill probably do the drivers side soon even tho it still works just peachy.

Also finally put on my salad bowl. Trimmed the bottom of the intake pan so it matches up pretty closely.

Going to have to replace the tie rod ends again. I regret ever going with lifted coils as opposed to a knuckle lift. Brand new to totally unsafe only took a few weeks/months. So now ill be ordering a 4" front lift, stock moog coils, bilsteins front and rear and a 2" block out back. All this will be followed up by a set of 33s. But that'll probably take a few weeks as in typical irresponsible male fashio, I spent all my moneys on the wheeler so now need to wait to fix the DD.

Don't think I ever said in here but a while back some jack a lope broke in and stole my tune-maker. So had a shop pop in a new alpine. $100 brand new for a mp3/Bluetooth setup. I love it. No spot for cd's, which doesn't make a crap since who uses those anymore anyway. It's sad I paid more for the trim and harness than I did for the radio kit.

Anyway that about sums up the last few months. Still drive this thing every day. Starts every time I touch the key. Can't ask for more than that. Especially since I'm about to rollover 195k.
