got a deal on a 1995 c2500 5.7l 4l80e transmission 14bolt sf rear with 4.10 .i want this as a tow truck for my travel trailer.its a tbi injection,i find it doesn,t feel that strong ,can,t hook trailer for test its in kind of snowed in.i,m used to running my turbo 6.2,and thought i would feel a big seat off pant difference. is that normal may be a good tune up would help.i don,t have to keep the cat but find it noisy when they are off,any thing a guy could do to wake it up more? on the door thers a sticker that says not to tow in overdrive, thought a 4l80e could do it? truck is in great shape only113000km(70000miles).

Well to wake up a TBI motor you generally have to start from a base line of a good tune up and venture from there. A new Distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs (AC DELCO), spark plug wires, air filter (drop in K&N), and oil change will show you what what you have now. Also you really don't want to tow any heavy loads especially in OD keep it in D. Leave the factory 3" single exhaust alone for now but a quality set of headers would net a difference.

In 95 some of the trucks were OBD 1, and some were OBD 2, depends what month your truck was built. If it is an OBD 2 truck then maybe look into a Hyper-Tech Power programmer, if not you can still do K&N filter, headers, Flowmaster exhaust, in 95 they were not Vortec, so you will not have the power a Vortec does.

thanks on the replys its obd 1 because my obd 2 reader doen,t fit on plug,it does flash check engine when running.the exhaust is double from muffler back. i would like to keep the noise levels low for towing comfort, what would be a good set up for headers ,cat and muffler? never had headers read they leak!tune up is going to be first what wires would be best if i would install headers?

well after tuneup, yesterday was my first time hauling travel trailer ,for little warrenty repairs. rides way better than my jimmy did almost don,t feel trailer behind me.but its not as strong as i would like its making ok but! after pulling for 20 minutes up to first traffic light to the small city were the dealership is .when i slow down to turn felt like an exhaust rattle ,did that every time i passed 2000rpm after that .got to dealership left trailer there chatted with guys for an hours, and comming back never heard noise again. i think i,m going to open up that exhaust ,if i take catalytic converter out will my check engine come on? just for a test for when i go get trailer.
