1995 Yukon - Strange Stall

Well, the pickup coil continues to test as 'OK' with the multi-meter. Regardless, I pulled the dizzy today and did the swap.

As usual, everything took longer and got nastier than I expected. There must be a trick to pulling the shaft out that I don't know. Everytime I do it the gunk on the shaft jams into the bushings and makes me need to beat the shaft out of the dizzy. Is there a trick I don't know?

Anyway, got it disassembled and cleaned everything up. The pickup coil looked kind of nasty and the insulation on the leads was cracked. I put in the new NAPA one and reinstalled the dizzy.

Reset the base timing with the ESC unplugged and the truck warmed up. (0 degrees).

So far, so good. I've driven it about 20 miles and the coughing and sputtering is gone. I'll check back in here if it goes south again, but right now I'm calling it fixed.

Thanks so much for the help guys.

-Ben

PS> next time I will make sure to change the pickup coil when I change the ICM!

WD-40 while working the distributor shaft back and forth works best for me when the distributor shaft is gummed up like yours was.
