Ok, so I have a 96 K2500 with a 6.5td 4l80e tranny and the engine, trans and front end is toast. The block is done, and the tranny case is cracked. Im going to swap in a 383 with 454TBI, and an sm465/205 combo (because I have these parts.) Im going to to a sas while im doing the motor and have a dana 44 8 lug front axle. The rear is a 14bff with 4.10 gears. I would like an nv4500 but the sm465 is already in my garage. Im going to use the truck as a tow rig for my K5 and do little ot no freeway driving. I was curious how the 465 would do with the 4.10 gears and 37" tires.
I have the option to put in a 4l60e (also have), should I go with 465 or 4l60e?
