I'd drill & retap the box, but that's 'cuz I enjoy that stuffThen at least you can use standard fasteners.
As for carrying metric wrenches, I expect to do so, not least for rounded off inch fasteners

Unfortunately, the Unimog stuff also uses metric bolts so I'm fighting a losing battle.....

There is something that feels really GOOD (and patriotic) about spinning SAE wrenches on a classic old Chevy. Hard to explain, but it just feels "right" to me.
