We've got this 1999 Suburban we've had a couple weeks now. On the way home with it, the cruise control quit, just like someone had turned it off. Didn't start back. We took it to town a few days later and cruise worked fine both ways. Then Julie took it on a little interstate trip and it worked on the way down, but not on the way back for her.

Today, we took it on a pretty good trip, bout 200miles total. On the way there, cruise worked perfectly. On the way home, I was merging into traffic, hit the cruise button and no problems. Then, about a mile down the road, the cruise dropped out. I also noticed that the torque converter clutch wasn't locking up either. We drove it from Roanoke to Christiansburg (~35 miles) and no cruise or torque converter clutch. I pull off at the Advance Auto in C-burg and start looking at the brake light switch. Can't get it off in the parking lot, so I just pull it up off the brake pedal rod and snap it back down.

Take off towards the interstate again and lo-and-behold, the cruise and TCC are both working! Well, as I merge onto the interstate and the CC stops, but the TCC continues to work all the way home (~60 miles). I'm going to put a new brake light switch on it tomorrow and see if that helps, but any advice from you guys would be helpful! I'm starting to wondering if I've bought a lost cause here. :doah:

Put a new brake light switch on yesterday. Seemed to help, but we have not gone anywhere with it yet to test it. Guess we'll see... :waytogo:

The brake light switch seems to have cured the problem. Getting about 15.8 mpg now that the TCC is locking up.
