Well crap!!! The sub needs a pitman arm, and intake manifold gaskets.
Anybody know any tricks or anything I need to know so that I don't f this up? :D

I got the intake manifold off today, and wow, what a mess.
On the back of the intake, there are ports in the head for water, but the intake does not have ports there. Anyway, I was looking at the ports on the heads, and there was some white sludge built up in there. Was there oil leaking in there you think? Also, is it common for the gasket to fall apart when you pull the intake off?
One last question, should I use the gasket in the valleys (front and rear) or use RTV or something like that??

RTV in the valleys and don't cheese out with it either, I used about 1/2 tube total, 3 beads high. From past experiences those rubber gasket things are worthless. Gaskets yea sometimes heat does make them brittle. White goo maybe oil/water frothing
 
Thanks for the reply,I thought that using rtv would be the way to go, just wanted to be sure.
 
make sure you get the revised gaskets for the intake!!!! Felpro has done a "problem solver" gasket set for these vortecs. It eliminates the rubber/plastic gaskets and goes to a coated metal gasket. If you get the "original style" you'll be doing them again.... the fel-pro # is MS98000T its a little more expensive, being the revised set. But it comes complete with upper and lower gaskets, valve cover gasket etc...
 
Thanks for the info on those gaskets, and the part number. I didn't have a problem with upper gasket, so I wasn't going to change it, but maybe I will.
 
unfortunatly thats the only way you can get the revised lowers is in a whole set. If you've got a couple days, I can get you a set at a killer deal.
