Anybody ever used one of these on a multi piece gasket application? I see Felpro offers one in their performance line for a 1st gen 454 but I've never used one.

i've used them twice... and will never go back to the multi piece again. so much easier to use and i havent had one leak yet

Got one on my truck, remains to be seen if it's the rear leaking, or my oil cooler. Nonetheless, it's a great piece, much better than the alternative. :)

I've heard and read they are the shiznitz. Best thing ever spent to prevent leakage on a motor. Pretty pricey, though.

Cool, thanks guys! I'll be ordering one tomorrow. :thumb:

I used one. Can't see why anyone would ever NOT use one. :screwy: Especially with the motor in the vehicle.

if it is the gasket im thinkin ur talkin about i ahve it also.. and they r reuseable...
I believe these one-piece types are more a rubber material than cork/gasket type.

They are & you can re-use them. I run one in my 454 in the '69, I think they are the cat's ass.

Just to clarify since there was no paperwork in the box, sealer or no sealer? I'm fairly certain the answer is no but I want to make sure.

the instructions I got with mine said to use sealer where the end caps meet the block. just a little dab on each of the four corners. however Ive installed two of the onepiece gaskets so far with no sealer at all and neither one leaked.

I did the sealer just as big dan outlined. No leaks either. :thumb:

When you guys say "corners" are you talking about the points where the flat part of the gasket (pan rail strip) transitions into the arc (end seal)?

i work at napa in one of the warehouses...sadly, but we carry felpro as the main line of gaskets, napa will have the one piece "permadry" felpro rubber one in stock most likely,if u dont feel like ordering it....

Yep, just where you'd normally but sealer on an oil pan gasket.

The other key is the cap to block mating surface.

This is an article I wrote about replacing the rear main seal and it includes the one-piece pan gasket installation. http://www.4x4mecca.com/forum/vbarticles.php?do=article&articleid=27

I use the one piece Felpro on my small block and haven't ever had any problems with it...I just made sure that I cleaned the bottom of the block really well before I put it on...
