Pick up a factory service manual, it shows all the gap spacing.

A 'must have' for any 1st gen owner.

Rushing the bodywork to get it covered in paint sounds like a mistake to me....

From the looks of those pics you've got quite a bit to still do to get your panel alignment correct.
  • The one door gap is tapered, which indicates that SOMETHING isn't right. Maybe a sagging bodymount or not enough shims under the correct mounts (the Factory Assembly Manual shows this as well)
  • The lower body line doesn't appear to be aligned from the door to the front fender.
  • The outer rocker skin is sitting really deep near the door hinge area. That is supposed to be lined-up with the bottom door edge and the front fender. Yours looks to be sunken-in about 1/2".
I can understand the excitement to get the truck painted, but it's only going to look as good as the prep work. Is the shop doing the final bodywork and paint, or are they just shooting it?

I have a buddy that has been doing bodywork on the side for over 15years, He is gonna let me do it at his place and guide me through it.

Im gonna have him come over for final gap spacing, But the closer i can get it, the beter. I am going to be messing with the gaps the best i can today, Just need some more pics for refference. Are these gaps supposed to be tight or were they kinda large from the factory?

Well I went out and found some bigg-ass washers and shimmed the mount right under the pass door, Opened the gap to where it is now even all the way down, Temp mounted the side trim on the fender and door and adjusted to fit. I had another rocker panel that was cut in half so I cut my sunken in one out and replaced that half. I can definately live with these gaps, They might be a little on the bigger side, But there even.

Plus a sneak peak of the new seats, Just a little more fabing of the seat brackets and there done
