This is for you guys that have made repairs on the door hinge area rust. What worked.....and what did not work? I have a mig welder, and will use it if neccessary. Your pics would help out alot!

Both of my doors have begun to show rust bubbles and slight tearing at the top hinges. I want to avoid buying new door shells but will if I must. Carlisle is coming up this week and I may just grab a set.

Thanks...Rick

I don't know if I've seen anyone repair the door side of the hinge mount once it's broken loose. I had to get new doors as one of mine had the same problem and I didn't want to mess around with it.

That being said, I suppose there's nothing preventing a repair and even good used doors are expensive. You'de want to make sure to get the surface that the hinge bolts onto at the right depth so you can adjust the door gaps properly.

I'd probably press the metal back with where it needs to be and weld up the tears and see how it works.

And post pictures of how it went!
