How many kids can you buckle into a K5 back seat? Also, any differences in size between rear benches in a 1st gen and 2nd gen K5?

sweet, that's then number of lil one's I've got. I've never been in a regular K5 and have been looking at different pics trying to figure this out, but haven't been able to tell.

I wonder if 1st gens will seat 3 as well?

The first gens only had seat belts for two, but it's probably wide enough to fit three kids. Although you'd have to add another seatbelt in the middle which wouldn't be too hard. If you have car seats to buckle in back there that might be more difficult depending on how wide they are.

Some people have mounted 2 seats like the rear of suburban but kills the cargo space.

another decent idea is to use rear minivan seats. The ones in dodge /chrysler / plymouth even have built in child seats, if the kids are that age.

I added another set of seat belts in the middle of my first gen seat and it easily held three kids.

thanks for the input fellas. I'll be looking to add a roll cage and shoulder belts. As long as there is enough room for 3 across I'm in good shape.

On my first gen I have a custom PRP bench seat with 3 belts across. The two on the outside have 5 pt harnesses and the middle is a lap belt but I could just as easily added a third 5 pt harness to the middle too.

I have a Gen I and in the back is room enough for only 2 Car seats. Dont know how little yours are. Until my kids are like 10 they'll only bounce while fully strapped in.

Ok this is the info I was looking for......

So probably not enough room for two booster seats and a car seat?

I really want another K5. I haven't owned one in years now, and didn't have any kids then.

I'm thinking a K5 with front bench may be the way to go.....The car seat can go in the front middle and two boosters in back.....

One booster is for my son that I have every 3 days/4 days on alternating weeks so when we don't have him we can put the car seat in the back.....
