1st Gen Lift Measurement?

i got a 2 inch lift and im showin 11 1/4 in the front and 8 1/4 in the back my tops on and i have the rear seat and some other crap in the back

Update:

I swaped a few things around (14FF w/ disc brakes and a 3/4 ton D44 etc...) including the rear springs.

I found that the rear springs had a overload type add-a-leaf (it looked like a overload (ie. 3/4" thick) but had a arch to it so that it barely contacted the spring pack at ride hight. I removed that, replaced the bottom leaf w/ one from a '75 Blazer (it had a bit less arch than the one it replaced) because one was cracked, and installed plastic buttons at the end of each leaf. I also ditched the 4" blocks and installed a shackle flip...

All said and done my new measurments are

Rear passenger side.......11 1/4"
Rear driver side..............11”

So at first glance it looks like I lost some lift but the 14FF axle tube is larger so I am withen about 1/8" of what I had before.

Greg:
I just got back from the Dr...I had a speck of metal removed from my left eye...and yes I was wearing safty glasses!

New spec's:

Rear:
4" shackle flip, 4 leaf + overload stock spring pack.

Front:
4" TC EZ-rides for 73-up, moved front hanger forward ~1.8", & 1" longer than stock shackles (5" center to center).

Back end loaded with spare tire, 60" hi-lift, tools and spare parts. Overall about 300# of crap? Soft top on and an unknown amount of fuel (gage doesn't work and I haven't driven it in 3 months so I have no idea how much is in there /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif).

Measurements (all taken from bottom of the flat part on the bump stop bracket to the axle tube):

Front passenger side......13 1/2”
Front driver side.............13 5/8”
Rear passenger side.......10”
Rear driver side..............9 7/8”

I also measured from body line to ground (my beat up "might as well be gravel" asphalt driveway). I used in front of the front tires and behind the rear tires.

Front passenger side......34 3/4”
Front driver side.............36”
Rear passenger side.......34 1/4”
Rear driver side..............34 3/4”

These measurements It looks like I got about 1" of lift more in the front than I had with my old Rancho's and stock shackles. I might make some new shackles that are only 1/2" longer than stock to drop the front some. The body line measurements tell me that the truck is sitting about level but because of the front fender openings being alot higher than the rear it looks like it has a bad case of Saggy Butt /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Will post some pics as soon as I get a digi camera (sometime after newyears?)

Here are my measurements (sounds funny):

Front: 13 3/4"
Rear: 9 1/2"

This is measured from the axle tube to where the rubber on the bumpstop contacts its bracket. Lift: 4" TCI front springs, ORD HD shackles. Rough Country stock height rear springs w/ ORD 4" shackle flip. The fronts are newly installed, the rear has been on ~6mo. Double wall top on, rear seat, hi-lift jack, full tank of fuel, spare, and assorted tools all in back too. 8000lb old school Warn winch on the front.
Definite saggy butt (about 2" front to back as measured by the lower body alum trim.)

Jeff.

One other thing I forgot to mention in your other post...

If the rear springs have been on for a while and the front ones are brand new you should wait a while and let them settle in. You might loose a bit of lift in the front.

It looks like your measuements are the same as mine /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif

I can see why you would want to do something about it...mine looks way to high in the front. I am going to wait till the end of summer (I have only wheeled it twice after the new springs) till I start to mess with it.

Re: 1st Gen Lift Measurement \"Stock\"

I belive my blazer still has the stock springs on it.

Front is 8.25" from the axel housing to the flat part that the bump stop mounts on.

Rear is 6" from the axel housing to the flat part that the bump stop mounts on (where the metal and rubber meet).
Rear is also 8.5" from top of axel tube to bottom of frame.

I feel that the blazer is fairly flat, it may sag a little in the back but is not real noticable.

The front springs are arched upward about 1-1.5" past flat. I assume they were arched down when the blazer was new? There are three very long springs on the front and five on the back.

I am looking for 2" or 4" springs and or shackle flips if anyone has a set from when they upsized again.
