i just recently bought another 68 c-10 swb & i've been searching, but can't find the answer...it has a 250 I6 and 3 on the tree...i plan on leaving this truck as close to original as possible(maybe some aftermarket wheels and tires only)...the truck was originally some sort of red, I'm sure i can get the paint code for that color fairly easy off the truck somewhere....and the top of the cabs on these trucks all seem to be painted white, no matter the color of the body.

my question is, on the 1967 & 1968 c-10's, what color is the grille painted, not the rectangular trim or headlight bezels, but the sheet metal itself? I've never seen an original 1 w/ a body color "grille", the sheet metal parts of the grille, that is. they always seem to be painted some sort of silver, was this gm's 1st use of the silver argent color? anyone have any links or info on where i can find out what the correct color for the nose on these trucks actually is supposed to be? i want to paint it back like it was when it rolled off the assembly line, but can't find any info on the color used to paint the very front sheet metal under the front of the hood, where the long rectangular trim & headlight buckets goes on the grille. any help on this is really appreciated. thanks in advance.

ttt...i saw either a 67 or 68 year model yesterday, almost certain it was a 68(large back glass, tho it could have been a 67 w/that option...it was sort of sky blue...its cab top was painted white and the sheet metal part of the grille was painted white as well, then it had the polished aluminum rectangular trim & headlight buckets/trim on the grill..

i'm not sure if it was original,(it looked like original colors/paint) , its the 1st one I've ever seen were the grill wasn't that ''silver'' colored grill...if it was original, thats at least 2 colors, i know of, that gm put on the nose of 67 & 68 trucks...any ideas of any good companys that may could help me figuar out the factory paint codes & how these trucks looked when they were new, the different style paint jobs available in 67-68? lets say someone ordered a black 67 or 68, did they still have the white cab and front grill? i want to find this out, so bad!

i'd like to know how many colors were used on the grill & also all the different paint patterns gm put out in 67-68. any ideas as to who i could call for help, to help me figure this out...someplace like ''gmc paul's'' or another company that really knows 1st gens inside out?

Two things:

1. When it comes to Chevy Pickups, '67 - '68 aren't really "1st Gens"....pickups have been around forever.

2. Go here: http://brochures.slosh.com/ That's "dremu"s site and has every brochure under the sun. If there's a good factory photo of the truck, he's probably got it there.

:usaflag:

edit: nevermind, looks like he only goes back to '69. :dunno:

yea, i understand the 67-68 pu is not a true 1st gen, i was just describing that same body style as a 69 k5. heck, there was a 1st design 55 that looked like a 53-54 pu, & a 2nd design 55 that looked like 56-57 pu. so you can have 2 different body style 55 pu's. just out of curiosity what was the 1st yr for a gm pu?

thanks for the link.(thanks for trying just the same) maybe i can figure out all the ways they painted 67-68 pu's..thanks again, and if anyone knows more on the 67-68 paint topic, please, please spread the knowledge

Yeah, sorry guys ... I've intentionally limited myself to '69-91, 'cuz otherwise I could go hog wild ... and the older paperwork tends to go for more $$, so it could get stupid expensive quick :deal:

That said, check out TOCMP or whatever -- it's linked there -- as they are more into older stuff.
