OK, brand new here and used to Land Rovers (just finished restoring a D90 and sold it to a fella admiring it in the Home Depot lot). In the interest of avoiding a divorce I picked up a nice 1970 K5 that needs minor attention so no frame-off restorations for a while.
So anyhow, i started contemplating taking the top off and designed a fancy single-person removal system using a boat winch. Now time to take the top off and I didn't get very far. After removing the screws from the side panels I cannot figure out how to get the chrome trim along the top of these panels off. The screws that hold it on appear to be behind the panels so no access there. A gentle pry sounds like glue is tearing but i can't imagine that i have to glue the trim back on every time i put the top on. The side panels appear to be attached to this chrome trim.
Any ideas besides 'pry harder' or 'who needs chrome trim'?
I can post some pics if they would help.
