I am getting a 1971 shortbed pick-up into the shop. I need to know if I mock a set of doors up to the pick up, will they fit on a 1st gen blazer. I am probably 2-3weeks out from building these but I don't want to waste my time if they won't fit the blazer and pick-ups.
I would like to use my existing latch design, which would involve removing the body side of the original latch and replacing it with a piece we supply.
I will be gone until tomorrow about noon, but leave me some feedback, let me know if anyone is interested, and if they will work for both types of trucks.
Thanks guys

Tom

They are exactly the same minus the top of the door (window channel at top) is cut off on a Blazer. So yes they will fit.

Your 2-3 weeks is up. Any luck getting a set done for a First Gen?
I sent you a PM. I will post when we have a set done. Things are pretty busy and we have not had time to mock a set up.

Keep in mind that on a blazer, the door is used as support, which differs from a pick up.

The upper brass striker plate is there for a reason.

If made specifically for a truck with the blazer as an after thought, yes they'll fit but may not be the 'best' door for a blazer.

Just my .02

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with, anything mocked up yet?

Price per set when they come out?

You changed the thread title, how can we be of help?

Pics, ideas, input?

I'd recommend doing the tube doors in conjunction with a set of quick change hinges.

The hinges are in the making, and the doors are being mocked up on a 71 pick up. When I am satisfied with them, I will need somebody with a 1st gen blazer to swing by and check the fit/iron out the differences. I am hoping for mid Jan, but as you can see from the original date of the thread, things sometimes pop up...thanks for the wait guys.

A little update. This is actually the first time I am in my shop since a little before xmas. My father has been very sick, I am going to be spending all my time with him. I apologize for any delays, and will post up as soon as I am back.
Thanks for understanding
Tom
