2 1/2" shackle flip questions

I agree with PS Rumors. Your pinion angle will be a little high from the shackle flip. When you shim it to lower it, remember that the pinion will climb a little when under heavy throttle. As was implied, the leaf springs will allow the axle to twist.

Here are a couple...

The day I brought it home.

Very nice 'burb. Good components already in it for good daily driver / moderate 4 wheeler.

Different topic: How did you get the pictures attached to the reply?

That is a beautiful Suburban! Mine is also my daily driver.. I get about the same mileage, if I was real easy on it I'd probably hit 14. Tires are the same size too.

Got my flip today as well as the u-bolts for the front :D

Still need to get the springs, zero rates for the rear, steering box brace, u-bolts for the rear and possibly shims. I also need a fuel pump(going to put an AC Delco in). When I did some measuring from the center of the wheel to the top of the fenders, the rear sat 1" low with a 3/4's full tank, so hopefully it'll sit level... sure looks like more than an inch but we'll see.

My goal is to start on this in July. Going to have to borrow or buy some big jack stands to support the vehicle off the frame.

Think an angle grinder and drill will take care of the rivets?

6T HF stands worked for me and yes, the grinder and drill will work.

The HF ones were the ones I was planning to get, thanks :D

I'm thinking about making a base for the stands out of 2x6's.. got a metric buttload of scrap 2x6's and 2x4's laying around. Should help with the gravel floor issue some.

DIY4X's 6" USDR shackles and a set of their own zero rates(EZ Inch) are on the way:D Figure I'll see how the ride height is without the zero rates and then add them later if need be. I know I'll probably use them on my K5 eventually if I don't on the Sub...

If I keep on track I should be starting mid July :D

I got bored today while out in the mountains.. pre shackle flip flex. I'm going to have rub issues with even 33's it looks like... tires right now are 265/75R16's, measure about 31".

Well I'm thinking my fuel pump is going

Haven't been able to get the front springs yet and I only want to drop the tank once(I have the pump already). I do have shocks and u bolts as well.

Think there will be issues using the 2.5" flip with the stock rear shackles and putting zero rates under the front? Rear sits about 1.25" low right now, I think that it should be okay for caster angle.

When I put my zero rates in the front the steering was fine. I replaced the rear drag link at the same time and eyeballed it to the right length. I'm fairly sure the place I took it to be aligned never even touched the draglink or anything up front. Didn't really drive screwy before they "aligned it" either. Actually...about the same as it did after...

The setup you describe sounds good. The way I'm thinking you should have the rear about 1" higher than the front that way.

Little higher in the rear than the front is what I'm going for :D

I think the pickups all sat at least level, if not a little higher in the rear for load capacity.

Yep, that is the traditional pickup stance. Fairly sure the K5's and Subs were all that way but since they had more weight over the rear axle most have sagged in the butt since they were new.

That heavy ass helps with the unloaded stability :haha:

Yep. Yer Burb's got a saggy ass. Time for one of those butt lifts.

I just realized I need the bolts to install the flip.

I know I need grade 8, but what hardware should I get exactly(bolts, nuts, and what else?). Vancouver Bolt is right across the street from where I work :D
