Been a long time since Ive done anything with my K10 due to school, and budget reasons, pretty much nothing since finishing the TBI swap 3 years ago.

Well, Ill be out at my parents place this weekend and Ive decided to tear into it a little bit and start getting ready to cut 14" out of the middle of the frame so I can have a shortbox. I will probably only take the box off, and lay out where Ill cut, but its a start.

I also need to put headers back on, and get the thing running good again, I think the TPS is bad, but theres still some diagnosing that needs to be done.

Ill try to find a digital camera to get some pics too, I know how you guys like them.:waytogo:

Go for it! Mine's been sitting for a decade and I'm startingto get back to it myself. Good luck to you. I love pics so send em our way.

Im looking forward to it. Still some things that I will work out more when I get there, mainly how to cut the frame to shorten it.

Where in Wi are you?

Hudson, WI .... Right on the St. Croix and the WI / MN border.

Thats cool, pretty much just across town.

My aunt and uncle live in somerset, I really like that area.

Ive always loved the longbeds, the first thing I ever drove was a blue 79 K20 when I was 8. Every truck Ive had has been a longbed though, and this is something Ive been thinking about doing for a really long time, (too be honest Ive been thinking of pulling the engine and axles, then scrapping it) Worst case, I go back to the guy I bought this truck from and buy another one. lol

We'll see what happens this weekend, maybe Ill decide to keep it a longbed.

What say you guys?

I'm a big fan of the wheelbase on a short box. I shortened my long box frame to short box size for added mobility on the trails and I also bobbed the bed to keep the ass from dragging. I'd say go for it unless you use the truck for work. I'd never give up my 8 ft bed on my work truck. Here's a pic of my short box for fun :D

How did you cut the frame? did you just cut a bunch off the back, or cut a section from the middle of the frame to shorten it?
