So, with all my threatening to actually get started on my Jimmy, I now have as good an opportunity as have had in the last few years to actually do it. The first order of business is doing an engine swap into the old girl. I want a Vortec motor in it with an automatic tranny, 5.7/4L60e. For that I'm going to do a Painless Wiring harness to make it all work. So I guess that's not really a question.

Here's the clincher: If it's possible (ie not way too expensive) I'd like to do a 5.3/4L60e or 6.0/4L80e swap into the Yukon and use the 5.7/4L60e out of that in the Jimmy. So, how much work is it to put the newer Vortec into my Yukon, reasonable or exorbitant? PITA or fairly simple (so to speak?) I would think that since I have the Vortec already in the Yukon, with the right fuel pump and comuter harness and stuff, I would just have to plug the new ECU into the harness and plug in all the adapters, and for good measure, have it all reflashed.

Am I nuts, and has it been done before?

What do you say brothers?

shouldn't be that hard once you have the computer and harness, you might have to redo the motor mounts that should be about it maybe 1-2 new sensors but I doubt it

it wont be cheap if you buy the engine and trans new though
