Is it worth rebuilding, machining and clearancing a 2 bolt block to build for a mild torque 383?

ya why not? 2 bolts are good to about 500hp. If you are going to be anywhere close to that then I'd do splayed main caps which is stronger than a factory 4 bolt :deal:

I had a 468 that made bout 550 horse, 2 bolt main, cast crank, small bolt rods. Only need 4 bolt if you plan on crazy RPMs, turbo, blower or mucho N2O.

If you plan on building something sane for low end torque, I wouldnt worry about it.

The difference in 2 and 4 bolt blocks... you can sell the 4 bolt to some race head for extra cash.

Yep the 4 bolt is only needed if you are going nitrous, or forced induction, or crazy high rpms.

2 bolt is just fine for a mild build

Isn't a 4 bolt main block mandatory for a 3/4 race cam?:haha:
