First one is on my 91 4wdcc dually where does the hd cooling fan get its signal from and can I test it?
Third question:D,My 88 4wdccduallys washers do not work{the cc and wipers do}the paddle switch just spins around. Is it easy to replace and hows it done? Ok I think that was 5 questions, sue me!!.........:pimp:

cooling fan I dunno

the wiper thing is part of the blinker lever right? If so, just pull the lever out of the socket. (Crazy right, that's what I thought at first) Just grab and pull it out. Buy a new one, and push it in. :)

I believe this is incorrect. The lever goes into the column, and for me, was a PITA. You have to pull the steering wheel, key cylinder, and all the blinker internals to get to it. Then there is a 7 wire (i think) plug that runs to the bottom of the column under the dash. The plug in on mine is IN the column. So i cut the plug in off the new one, and cut the switch off the old one. I taped them together, and ran the new one down the column with the old one. Then at the bottom I soldered and shrink wrapped the connector back on to the switch. Ive only done one, so if anyone has an easier way, please share!

I think he's just talking the squirter, which is on the lever. The actual piece that sends a signal to the pump is inside the column, but if the "paddle" is just spinning around, it might be inside the lever, if he's lucky.

True true. So an easy way to check that would be to pull on the blinker/wiper switch, it does just pull out, and see if the little ear that goes into the switch in the column spins when you push the paddle, the lever is good if the ear does spin. I suspect the switch though. Mine did the same thing before it gave up and quit working.

Whats an HD cooling fan? Are you talking electric? These didn't come with additional electric fans from the factory.

Soooo lets review the operation, Yes it pulls out easily and then a believe a piece broke off deep inside. Well I farted around with that for an hour and found out that the washers actually work!yea me:waytogo: Then when I put lever back in the aforementioned piece jammed itself in there somehow.:doah: Now my washers work but my wipers will not turn off!:frown1: And then to top things off I filled up the resevoir and watched the gallon of fluid drain on the driveway! I guess next week I will be pulling the column apart.

As far as the cooling fan its of a 91 and yes I believe thay were factory on later models as I pulled 2 this week, one off a burb the second off a cc.

Mine did that too. After the wipers quit.... Then i had to unplug the wipers when it wasnt raining. Sounds to me like the switch.

Yes, there were some that came from the factory with electric fans on the oil cooler in front of the radiator.

Not sure where they get their signal from though either.

There should be a sleeve around the lower part of the column that the plug will slide through at the right angle. Replaced the lever, wiper switch, and turn signal cam on my 93. Not bad if you have a wheel-puller and an hour or so.
