!/2 ton tie rod too big for #/4ton knuckles

It totaly wierds me out. I was puting the tie rod from my 1/2ton 10 bolt on my 3/4ton 10 bolt and the holes where the tie rods go into the knuckles are biger on the 1/2 ton. Anyone ever heard of that? Anyone know the taper on the bigger ones becasue im prety sure that i can get a tappered reamer from school And ream them out bigger to accept the bigger TRE's So clue me in cause im cluless. /forums/images/graemlins/ears.gif

Does the 3/4 ton axle possibly have D44 knuckles on it. Some D44 knuckles accept the tierod from the top and not the bottom like a 10 bolt.

I used the one off my '87 10 bolt, and installed it on my '75 Dana 44HD axle.
