Y'all seen my rig in the complete vehicles for sale and I had it for sale locally on craigslist also.

A guy emailed me wanting to trade a 97 ext 2wd loaded 1500 chevy with 120k on it and also a 79 short bed 2wd that has a new motor in it.

He said the 97 is perfect inside and out but needs a fuel pump.

The 79 needs timing adjusted and that's it.

What y'all think? Worth trading for?

A lot of times when people offer deals like this, theres something major wrong with their rigs and they're not telling the whole story of whats wrong with them. Any time someone offers deals like this, its the norm to think along the lines of the infamous quote, "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is."

I'd walk away.

If they only need a fuel pump and adjusted timing why hasn't he done it? If he's not capable of doing that then how is he capable of giving you accurate info on his trucks? Why would you want or consider his trucks anyways? You put value in yours... his are a dime a dozen.

i was thinking the same thing, but also he may be looking at the fact that the 97 isnt worth what im asking for my blazer so he is willing to sell both to come close to the price :dunno:

only needs timing adjusted...HA right.

because Timing just goes out and needs to "just be adjusted" for it to run
other probs for sure

No clue, he just said he picked it up from someone and didn't have time or money to fix it up. Said new motor but who knows

I passed on the deal. Thought I could turn a quick profit on them but in the winter in colorado, moving two 2wd trucks quick ain't gonna happen

Thats a sign where the red flags shoot up waving hard.

I never buy or take over someone elses project where they give up. Especially when said seller bought it from someone else who started the project. Its all "he said, she said" etc., etc. FWIW, the motor in that truck could have spun bearings, broken rod(s), hole(s) in the piston(s), etc., etc.

I know you called the deal off, but that 79 is a parts truck unless he can prove otherwise, so I'd only pay parts truck price.
Who knows if engine was broke in right.

Yeah too many wanna be mechanics out there,

Those two trucks aren't worth combined what your Blazer is worth alone. That's why I said no, completely independent of any other problems.
