2 wheel peel / rebirth of a short bed c-10

o.k. i give in since 2 guys got it .

hood, or a bench seat:thinking: I dont know... We'll see when it gets there though:D

thats 50% correct for the first win .

I'll guess cowl hood...

but this is 100% correct for the win .

you 2 guys fight over the internet points :haha:

and fyi its a goodmark 2" std cowl hood . good clasic design . :D got it cheeper than online from my work since we dont pay shipping on parts our supplyer sells . so the $490 summit wanted i got for $425 to my door.

i got those covered when ready at my local shop i deal with . and rims will be blasted and white powder coated with 88-98 style center caps. :D

255/70/15 ugly rim condition now. new old stock spare i got off craigslist few months ago for test fitting use. 40 bucks for it .

so i said goodmark for the win and gm stamp of aproval .

:doah: That was gonna be my first guess but the supercharger came to mind:haha: I lose:bow:

looking good Brett.
all it needs is round headlights now!

well its not dead . :zombie3:

work has been a lot more for me since the boss is out on medical .

but we have had some time last week to get a little filler work done on low spots in the box . driver rear was ripple in lower ear from prev damage . just needed thin layer . and pass front was patch panel and small long line dent we got most out with hammer / dolly . then few low spots here there.

and to make work easy I made a cart to hold the box right side up or upside down and not hit the ground. as we need the box off to paint 100% and also I need to flip it to cut / weld on bottom side to clear the shackle swing of the 1" longer diy4x shackles for the 1/2" drop extra I needed.

got the idea from cucv2 when he sold me the cab ( for my plow truck redo project ) and gave me the cart he had for it.

4ft x 5ft and 2ft tall .

4 caster wheels 6.99 each

1 box screws. 18.99

I did my 3ft tall with 6 2x4x10 . 5.00 each

all for under 85 bucks at local hardware store. I didn't price shop I just used local owned store . had it done in under 30 min .

cut the 4ft then 56 3/4 for the sides and it goes together to be 4ft x 5 ft.

I just got to remember how to set the cab on the short one . its not on correct and leaning back . I think I need to turn it 90*

got more filler work done and now the box is flipped over and on the cart to make it so much better to work on the under side.

I need to clearance the bottom side of the rear crossmember for the swing of the 1" longer shackles that got me lower. last 2 pics you can see were the shackles hit and with box not bolted down to the frame it would lift the box 3/4 of a inch .

also when it was up on its end I took the time to media blast the small spots of rust on the top rails were some tool box's had been for years before I gotthe box used.

I used the speed blaster and the hot shot kit it works great and the hot shot kit is good also for small jobs you don't want grit all over the shop .

All this careful prep work is going to make for a good looking paint job for sure. I can't even remember now what color you said you were going with. Should look great though.

2011 Toyota bright white and speedway blue

-----------------------------------------------------

picked this up from a friend few days ago .

1973 12 bolt truck rear 3.73 gears and in real good shape for rust belt axle. but it spent most of its life out west before it arrived here. good pattern / wear and no major play .

$100 bucks scored this for the truck since the 2.73 or 3.08 rear 10 bolt I had now was junk anyways .

will be swaping over the brakes from newer to older axle . gets me from 11x2 upgraded to 11 5/8 x 2 3/4 . bigger is better . :waytogo:

going to send it out for some light media blasting so I can make it match the clean rest of the truck when I paint it.

also going to swap out the open diff for a nice new eaton / Detroit true trac posi unit . gears no clutches to wear out.
