2 wheel peel / rebirth of a short bed c-10

This build is coming together good. :thumb:

Two questions for you:

1. Where did you get those anit-squeak teflon pads? I ordered some from Summit but I don't know if they're the exact ones I need. I think I need some like the ones you showed.

2. What kind of paint did you use on the parts you just painted? You may have already said. Is it some kind of special rust-preventive stuff or just regular paint?

I've broken a few taps in a similar way. You think to yourself, "Man I hope this thing isn't about to break." And then it just snaps like it was nothing. :doah:

Cool. Thanks. I'm thinking about using some graphite coating on my leaf springs when I redo them. Do you think this will help with the squeak or should I just use some of the paint you used? Rust on the undercarriage isn't really a major concern in my area, just on the body.

Good write up, and very clean install :thumb:

I like the crush sleeve eliminator setup. I didn't know they made them.

i had some 88-up leaf springs i scrapped with broken leafs. i took out the spacers in the center. and if you look close in my pic you can see them installed in the leaf pack between each leaf.

and if you want pads on all leafs take them to local spring shop and have them punch the holes and sell you pads. then re assemble them .

hardened steel tho dont waste your time drilling the leafs for pin holes.

major jump this last 48 hr's

got my buddy to swing over and lend a hand since he owed me a few favors .

got the cab off / scuffed / scraped / wiped down / and rust convertor spray to neutralize any left over surface rust for now . then we coated the whole bottom good .

next we took and cleaned / blew off / sucked out all the junk / dirt and grime from the bottom side of the bed . then did the same prep work as the cab floor .

also just to be sure before finale coat we test fitted the bed and the 2 clearance notches I installed to clear the shackle swing work like a glove .

Dude that looks clean. Thumbs up.

You do realize that once you start driving this thing, people are going to be offering to buy it all the time.

everyone knows my stuff isn't for sale . I drive them till I scrap or rebuild them .

and even if it was for sale . . . no one in my area has the cash or has it but isn't in to them .

and that first cab pic gray floor was ORIGNAL not blasted . just wiped down with cleaner then scuffed for under coating . bed floor also that clean . hard to tell in bright sun light pics tho . but blue floor all the way till covered.

little more done today . got the cab flipped back up and on the roll around cart . also did up the seam sealer in the cowl box area that was dryed out and all gone . next was clean up and coat the fire wall.

then we flipped the box back over and started a little filler work on it also .

nost of the bed filler work is from welded shut trim holes or on the top rails 13 yes 13 holes from tool box's and ladder racks . and the rf lower section was a small dent/gouge we hammered & dollyed out and the small repair panel job I had done from the rust hole . looks worse than it realy is as I had sanded off all the old burnt / dryed out / flacking off paint .
