Dropped the trans and replaced the pump today. Getting the trans back in is a bitch when the truck is so high. No jack we had access to would reach that high. We tried an old 2x4 under the trans pan with two guys lifting from opposite sides of the truck, 2x4 was cracking. My buddy is a medic, had the long spline board in the back of his truck, sooo we used that instead. :haha:

Put the trans on the long spline board, two buddies lifted it most of the way into place while myself and another friend got underneath and did the rest. Took about 5 minutes. :pimp1:

Remonds me of my co-worker at the junkyard--one dayI was off on a run and he had to put a tranny in his Olds ,and had no one else to help, and the only floor jack we had was one of those cheapie tiny ones we found in a trubk of a junk car, that wasn;t up to the task of lifting it high enough--every time he got it jacked up it tipped and the tranny would slide off the board under it,and he would have had to bench press it the last 6" alone and try to jab it in there, which wasnt working either..

In disgust he walked around the shop looking for anything that would help...his brainstorm was to use a inner tibe from a semi truck tire !..he placed plywood under and on top of the tube, plopped the tranny on it,dragged it under the car,and inflated it until it was lined up with the bell housing!...he was afraid the tube would blow as soon as he crawled under the car,but it held up fine..in fact,he said je probably could have lifted one side of the car up with it!...we used that trick a few other times when we didn't have a jack handy out in the yard too...
