2000+ 2500 NON-\"HD\'s\" existence?

Just curious if there is such a thing as a 3/4 ton 2000+ GM truck that is NOT a "HD"?

Been really keeping my eyes open, and have yet to see one. All are 2500HD's it seems.

Actually for my own selfish reasons of course...wondering if they are turning out any 6 lug 14SF rear disk setups. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I have a feeling anymore though, 14SF or FF, all are 8 lug.

So the 1500HD and H2 both use a 6 lug 14SF?

Just making sure. No problem finding tons of those around being parted out. lol

Never even HEARD of a 1500HD!

Wow even heavy halfs are 8 lug huh? Well, saves GM a bunch on axles and wheels, thats kinda what I figured.

Guess if the older 6 lug IFS 14SF's use the same length axles as the 2000+ trucks, it will still work, just have to come up with the 6 lug axles. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Nah, I'd use the housing out of a 2000+, since I expect between the introduction of the 14SF and 2000, they changed the axle housing brake flange, like they did around 1996 on the 10 bolts.

Then, get the 6 lug axles out of an earlier IFS truck (and hope they are the same length) and replace the 2000+ axles with them. So I'd keep the disk brakes and axle housing for the 2000+, and go with the 6 lug shafts out of an earlier one.

Makes sense to me...as long as there are 6 lug shafts the same length and spline count as the 2000+ 8 lug's, it will work. At this point not a "budget" swap, but I can wait a couple of years until they are more commonly parted out.

1500HDs, H2s, 2500 non HDs are all 8 lug setups. Heck they sell 6 lug Dana 60s now /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif (quadrasteer rears).

Hmm. I will have to check that out. One more thing to look for! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks
