My sister lives in Chula Vista (San Diego area) and she just had her brakes done by a shop. Now her ABS light is going on. She took it back to the shop and the tech said he could disconnect the abs switch and then she would just have normal brakes without ABS.

Her question...
Is this safe?
Should she take it to the dealership ("stealership")?
Do you really need ABS?

Thanks for all the help.

If the shop busted it, he'd better be planning on fixing it too.

What kind of brake repairs were done?

Hmm, I was thinking that he might have messed something up if he opened up the brake's hydraulic system... maybe pop the front tires off and see if he messed up the ABS sensor on one side?

I just spoke to her over the phone (she lives about 5 or 6 hours away). She recently had the ABS module fail and it was replaced at the dealership. Then (most recently) she had the brakes done and now the ABS light keeps going on...
