2000 GMC K2500 Sierra Crew Cab Stepside

On my 01 GMC I put mine in the hole to lower the spare tire, I keep my spare in the bed.

Called the body shop today and I'm supposed to drop it off Friday and he said he would get to it next week! :waytogo: :woot: :waytogo:

Well, the bed is still sitting on the dolly outside his shop and it is still gold...

I find with some shops the way to get your stuff done is to call and bug them, tactfully... they say in a week, call in 6 days. Then again in 12 days. Usually I don't have to bother beyond that because the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

His mom died a few weeks ago and it's just him and one other guy. He had said it would be done this week, but I can't exactly hold him to that right now. I know it gets busy for a good while when a family member dies. Plus the Suburban popped a head gasket so I'm in no hurry for it as I'll need to buy parts for it now...

While we were at my parents for Thanksgiving, I rode by his shop and he had started on the little bit of fiberglass repair on the passenger side step. Hope to have it back by Christmas so I can get it striped and ready to go on.

Is the a more dependable fuel pump/sender you can buy for these things? The one we put in Julie's Suburban lost the check valve in a year and now the fuel level sender has gone bad as well after two years. While I've got the bed off the truck, I want to swap in a new pump but I want a good one of there is such a thing.

I put a Delphi turbine style pump in my Yukon last spring when my ACDelco impeller style crapped out. It's got a lifetime guarantee on it and runs nearly silent, and for 6 months, so far so good.

Was that a whole unit or just a pump to put in the factory bracket?

Whole unit, from the plug harness to the sender level and the plastic bucket the whole thing lives in.

Dad called today to tell me the bed is done. Now to get down to get it so I can get the molding, striping, badges and flares on it.

I'm looking at ordering some decals for the bed side. I was wondering if you guys though I should put the Z71 decals on it since it came with bilstien shocks and all the skid plates on it from the factory or just put the 4x4 decals on it like it was stock?

I'm curious to see what this is going to look like with a stepside bed

I am too, but delayed again... It doesn't appear that the Suburban's head gasket is going to make it to spring so funds will be diverted to to that instead of trimming out my bed and buying the stuff to put it on...

Sucks about the headgasket, I wouldn't put a sticker back on it but that's me...

I have thought about not putting them back, but I really want this to look factory. I'm thinking I'll do the 4x4 decals since I don't think the 2500s were offered in a Z71 package. I'm going to use the original impact strips, GMC and Sierra badges and flares to age the bed a little too.

I would like to eventually build a head ache rack and possibly an over the bed rack too.

Picked up my bed from the body shop today. I'll try to get some pictures of it in the daylight. I've got to get started on the moldings and such when I get it home.

I'm going to order the Delphi pump with the rfi filter in it as well to put in while the bed is off.

Sweet truck. I just picked up a 94 CC 3500. It has way more room in the back seats than any of my other trucks

Thanks man! I love the crew cab!!! We have had the Suburban for a few years and it is amazing having kids. All three fit across the middle row with room to spare, loading them is easy plus all the leg room in there too.

I had looked at a lot of extended cab trucks and we've used my Dad's 07 C2500 a few times with the girls and it wasn't too bad. But when I drove my first crew, I knew I wanted one. I'm just lucky Julie wouldn't let me settle for an extended cab half ton truck when this is what I was looking for. I kinda wish it was a 3500 occasionally, but then it would be a 8' bed and I couldn't have the CC/Stepside I've been dreaming about for years. :waytogo:

The bed is home now, so I'm going to order the fuel pump next weekend. I've got to make a few little cuts on the bumper while the bed is off to make it fit right, but I'm hoping to have it on in a few weeks. Gotta round up some muscle to help me do the swapping.
