I'm working on a tranny filter and fluid change. Anyone else had problems getting the two T40 Torx bolts removed that hold the bracket. It is not possible to remove the tranny pan without removing the bracket which is in the way. The other method is to bend the bracket but I don't like that. The two t40 torx bolts have to blindly be removed due to space restrictions. Anyways I get the bolts removed after about 6hrs of fussing with it. Anyone else replaced these with hex bolts?

At the dealer when I worked there it was common to bend the shift cable bracket out. Not ideal but it does work.

There is a coating on the two t40 torx bolts. I would like to replace these with hex bolts. I'm not sure if it is a wise thing to do. The case is aluminum. If I use stainless bolts is that ok or will the stainless react with the aluminium?

No, Aluminum and Stainless will get along pretty nicely out of salt water.

I also just bend the bracket and bend it back when done.

Anyone here remove the t40 torx bolts when removing the pan? It is stupid how GM designed this.
