2001 2500HD axle id? Help.

Considering a 2001 2500HD 4x. I believe the HD should be a 14bff just like I had in the crewcab and what's in the K5. I have also seen where it should be an 11.5" ring gear. Who knows which it would be? If it is an 11.5" is the housing similar?

I will continue searching but I need to figure this out by tomorrow mid-day. Thanks for the help.

My dad has a 02 2500hd, and the rear axle is def the huge honkin 14bff. not sure on the ring gear though.

Does it look like a regular 14ff with the extra fins or support ribs around it?

It will be a 11.5" rear axle if it's a Dmax or 8.1L truck for sure. I am fairly positive that it will still retain the 11.5" axle, even with the 6.0L small block.

The 11.5 is a completely different animal, different housing, ring gear, and internals.

I think it's got to be an LD2500 to get a standard 10.5" 14BFF.

Yeah my pops is the 8.1 2500hd, the housing has more of a round look, but you can tell its the monster 14bff. The thing is freakin huge! hah

If I remember correctly, the Dmax and 8.1 will have the bigger 11.5" axle while the smaller V8's will have a 14FF.

Checked it this morning, it's a 6.0 with the 10.5" 14ff. Thanks for the help guys.
