ok here is the deal I got 2001 suburban with the 6.0l ls engine if I start the truck while on an incline (nose up) the oil pressure is low enough to trip the idiot light. When the truck is level everything goes back to normal (oil pressure wise). I am leaning toward bad pickup, any sugestions before I tear into this baby?

Whats the oil level at?
my 89 loses pressure on declines, I just add a half quart above the full line before wheeling

167,324 miles oil leval is at the full mark. I can understand loosing oil pressure with the nose pointing down hill due to the sump location, but up hill is whats stumping me.

What have the oil changes been like? I've seen the truck LS motors sludge up and do the exact same thing. If the oil changes have been stretched try some engine oil cleaner, change the oil and see what happens.
The only other thing is to pull the pan and see what is going on.

The oil changes have been regular since it is a fleet truck. I think I will try some sea foam and an oil change and if theat dosen't fix it I will dive in thanks to all who replied - Tony.

Oil pump is on the front of the engine, oil pan removal and timing cover. Done 1 at 200k that was serviced regularly, had no oil pressure at idle.

I have done them too. High miles or poor service history. Put an oil pump on it. Just remember oilpan and timing cover alignment are critical on these engines.
