I know, a Furd.....

214k on the odometer and a couple times over the past month it doesn't want to start after its already been driven and warmed up. Both times has been full of fuel Will crank and turnover fine but won't start. I'll let it sit a few minutes and then it will start. Have noticed it takes a little longer to start than it used to also. No engine light has come on.

I keep the filters changed, run 2 cycle oil in with my diesel about half the time and a can of seafoam every month or so.

Has also died at a light once, but restarted immediately and every once in a while it'll cut out running down the road.

Everything stock and original on the truck. Wondering if I should change out glow plugs or glow plug relay or something else I might be missing.

Could be an injector pump issue. I know on the 6.5 TBD Humvees I used to work on when the injector pump solenoid was on its way out they would experience hard starting and dying out when hot, because the fuel was vaporizing too early. I don't know if Fords are susceptible to similar issues, but since diesels are sensitive to fuel pressure and air, looking at fuel delivery might be a good place to start.

Glow plugs is my guess.... My dads 7.3 was having the same issues, hard start, sometimes in the winter it would take 20 minutes of cycling the plugs to get it to start, along with plugging it in at night. New plugs, no issues whatsoever.

If you do the plugs, do the HPOP harnesses too. Also, injectors o-rings should be done every 100k miles.

If it only does it hot it is not a gp issue. Have you tried a cps? They are pretty cheap (get from ford or IH) and can cause all kinds of interesting problems. Hot starting issues can also be hpop issues, whether the pump itself is weak, the regulator is screwing up, or high pressure oil leakage, But this stuff almost always will store a code.

Still doing this. Had the oil changed as I was a little over due and put in a new air filter. Still did it. Changed out the cps today, still doing it. Its worse in the rain. Starting to have the engine light come on when it dies out.

Called a shop that has a pretty good rep locally for psd work. Going to take it by there tomorrow hopefully.

My 2000 was starting to do some weird stuff and I put an oring kit on the fuel filter bowl and fuel lines at the bowl. Helped out. I also put a bigger gpr when mine went out earlier this year. Got the right up and part number off of here http://www.guzzle7pt3.com/mods.php
Also did glow plugs and harnesses, after a pile of reading stick with motorcraft parts if you plan on keeping the truck. Found some guys playing with aftermarket ones and the tips would swell over time making them impossible to get out with out head removal.
