I have a problem with the x-fer case. The transfer case won't go into gear. Seems to be stuck in neutral. Push button controlled. Switch won't light. Any help?

I have a 2001 blazer and I heard there are some problems with the actuator that engages the 4WD.

I went to the s-10 furom chat and I ask the question there and they were childish. I guess if you have any question pertaining to the S-10 then don't go there.

check it out, pull the switch out with it still connected...
see what happens when you push it with a test light, ground the test light and check the outputs, its probably the motor on the tcase though.... just use a SMALL hammer to lightly tap on the motor while someone works the switch... if it goes into gear, the motor may need replaced or may just have been stuck, do you use the 4x4 a lot?

Na she only uses it in the winter. I have the motor out now and the selector is in 2HI I hope.

No power to the motor. Which leads should I be checking for power? There is a red and a black wire among the wires, are those the power wires? I have power to the switch though.

check if you have power coming OUT of the switch, if not its bad...

I have power at four wires at the plug, whether I press bottons or not.

well it turned out to be a bad actuator motor which blew the atc fuse. Thanks for the help.
