2002 Suburban fuel pump replacement

I am helping a buddy replace his fuel pump in his 2002 Suburban and the new pump doesn't have a sock on the bottom like the original did. Is that normal?

He used his vin on http://newautoparts.com/ to get the part, but just wanted to make sure before we put everything back together that this was how it was supposed to be.

The sock is probably part left out in case you want to use the old one, buy a new sock for it.
