Hey All, I have a 2002 GMC Yukon my wife drives. Had a weird HVAC issue just pop up yesterday and wondering if some of you have some experience with it. Since we bought the vehicle, the blower motor always worked except on the most high position (I have the progressive blower switch, not the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 positions...and mine is not the dual climate control option, just single control). It would work all the way up to the high position just fine, but as soon as you put it on high, it would cut off. Didn't worry about it for a while since everything else was working just fine for the time being.

But just yesterday, now I only have heat on the floor (doesn't matter if I turn blend to cold or turn from feet to defrost, only have heat on floor now), and as soon as I start the vehicle up, it blower motor immediately starts to progress on its own from low all the way up to blowing high and then cuts itself off and will not run no mater what position you put the dial to. But to make it even more weird...as soon as you hit 60 mph, the blower motor kicks on high and will only stay on high no matter what you put the dial to while above 60 mph, but as soon as you drop below 60 mph, blower motor kicks off. And, our A/C button has a little light on it to signify when you have the A/C on, and no matter what we do, that light is always on now (even though, like I said, I only have heat on the floor at all times). And all of this showed up immediately at the same time yesterday.

Did some reading and read about it's common on these years that the blower motor resister goes out, but the blower motor is only one problem, then there is the no blend for heat/cold or feet/defrost either. I kind find it highly unlikely that the blower motor resister and the both blend door actuators all went out at the exact same time, and I don't like to just start throwing money at parts and see what fixes stuff.

I was wondering if this could just be the whole climate control panel has gone to crap? Anyone had something like this before? Haven't dived into it yet as it just happened last night and I'm at work doing some research so I can work on it this weekend. Any input is appreciated.

Thanks!

I had the same issue with the air stuck on the floor/defrost and it was the blend door. Can't comment on the blower issue however it seems like a separate issue to me.

02 Tahoe without climate control btw

Yeah, on my 96 K2500 I had the blend door go out too. So from my understanding there is a control module/motor to run the blend door (move from feet to defrost), a control module/motor to run the heat/cold, and then a control module/motor to run the blower motor. In this case, all 3 are having issues which makes me think its all connected instead of 3 separate issues (considering all the issues popped up at the same time)

I finally just started replacing actuators and the controller unit on my 04' suburban. Wasn't as noticeable in the summer but did notice in winter more. Had hot or cold blowing on floor, regardless of setting. And then my rear system blew really hot (in the middle of summer), when the front was on AC cold. Those actuators really start getting weird.

Found and replaced with AC Delco's on Amazon.

Top Actuator & Bottom Actuator (temps) - 89018365

FWIW 2 of my three actuators failed within a week of each other. If yours aren't bad they will be soon.

And it's pretty easy to access two of them.

Also used the delcos.

Yeah, I've changed many of these actuators before, and I would buy one going out and then a week later another going out...but all three at the exact same moment...that has me thinking that's not the issue...

So, I just disconnected my battery for 30 sec to try and "restart" the system a little bit, and now everything is back to normal and operating as it should. I have a feeling this didnt really fix it and will anticipate that this is going to pop up again tomorrow/within the next few days...we shall see. Its acting like there may be a short somewhere, but whatev's...I guess just see how long it keeps working correctly

What's the climate control panel look like? I've got an extra one from my 02 Silverado I could send your way if you want to swap it out to try. Mine has the auto fan/temp settings.

That looks to be the same one I've got. If you want, or if it starts giving you problems again, send me a message with your address and I'll send it your way.

Sounds great, thanks for the offer and I'll let you know. So far as of this morning its still working
