My dad has an 03 XL that won't start if there's less than 1/4 tank of fuel. It runs fine, and will run itself dry, but if you forget to fill it up past 1/4 tank, it won't start until you add more fuel. Anyone know what's going on here?

are you going by the fuel gague to determine the level of the tank or by how much it takes to fill the tank up?

Going by fuel gauge. Does the fuel level sensor tell the fuel pump whether or not to run? I can't remember whether or not the fuel pump is trying to run when we turn the key to ON but don't try to turn it over.

Thanks for the help guys.

yeah. second that fuel sender issue. gm is recalling the 00-01 models for this problem. may extend it to cover later models, so hold on to your receipts.
