2004 GMC Yukon XL... CEL intermittently coming on.

very easy, only special tool you need is a fuel line disconnect tool (there cheap). there is no coolant that runs threw the intake so there is no mess involved. it does probably have one small coolant line that runs threw the throttle bottle, very little coolant will be lost tho. hardest part is probably fishing the intake out from under the harness, and thats still easy.. just make sure you use compressed air to blow around the intake before you start working to prevent debris from entering the motor. gaskets snap onto intake which make install easy as well. after intake is removed just use a razor blade to clean surface, vaccum anyleft over debris. wipe down surface with some brake clean and its ready for install. don't quote me but im pretty sure theres ten, 10mm head bolts that hold them on

Thanks for the advice. Ill look at replacing mine for peace of mind. Probably do that before I mess with the fuel sender. It has had problems for quite a while but the CEL just started coming on once the weather got colder last month. So after reading what everyone has said, I will start with intake gaskets.

Sorry for the delay in response. We grabbed a set of intake gaskets and I plan to change them out soon. It made sense--the truck only threw a code after sitting outside while she's at work. It doesn't do it in the mornings because it's kept in an attached garage and it's much warmer in there than it is outside her work parking lot. Truck warms up, CEL goes off.

Thanks all! :D

Check your plug wires. I've had all sorts of issues with those motors when plug wires come undone.
