I got a 2005 2500hd pickup.. I bought it used and when I got it the 7-wire trailer connecter was smashed up so I replaced it and rewired it and now the brake and turn signals dont work at all, but the running lights, and backup lights, and 12V and ground are all functional... Any ideas on what may have happened? All the lights on the truck work fine, just the trailer wiring harness is not working.

I installed 40 amp fuse that comes with the brake controller wiring, and all fuses in the fuse box tested good.. What was amusing is that there are fuses for trailer backup lights, and trailer running lights, and trailer 12V power, but all those are functional already.. there are no fuses for trailer turn signals or trailer brake lights, and those dont work.. how are these trucks wired? It got dark before I could really get down & dirty but everything appears very original and unmolested. Thanks!

Any ideas appreciated

Mike

There are seperate fuses for the trailer lights than the truck. I thought they were in the drivers side of the dash? Been awhile since I changed one not sure to be honest. I had the same problem when I picked up my new trailer. The guy loading my trailer actualy told me about it. Good luck
