2005 h2

What do I need to change if anything?
Basically everything. His reply was a joke.

How good are you at custom autobody sheetmetal fabrication from scratch? Odds are you will not be able to do the work needed for this type of project since you had to ask this question. That would mean finding a custom shop and handing them a blank check at this point or learning a lot of new skills.

H2 is 190" long with 122.8" wheelbase.
K5 is 185" long with 106.5" wheelbase. Will you stretch the body or section the frame shorter? A pickup truck is a closer match with SWB ~117", but H2 has the rear axle closer to the rear than a pickup bed.

An easier approach would probably be fitting the H2 drivetrain into a K5. You'd have to decide between retrofitting torsion bar IFS and linked airbags or staying solid axle/leafs. When looking at retrofitting H2 suspension, there may be other options that don't cost any more and end up more desirable, like the ORD 4-link/coilover kits.

If we're talking blank checks, there are custom K5 chassis available now that pretty much duplicates and/or improves late model GM stuff, but fitted to a Blazer. Google away, but here's some examples.

^^ roadstershop ftw. If i had the money, it doesnt get much easier to accomplish your goal

Fast (minimal fab work needed), and reliable, but far from cheap.
They are no doubt the top tier chassis builder!
A buddy of mine sent his 59 Vette chassis to them to do what they do with IRS and the works and he asked if they could invoice him for every twenty grand just to keep tabs on everything and they responded with “that’s not how they build”.
It was blank check or nothing with a round about ballpark guestimation of final cost - in the end the final cost was very close to what they predicted and he was very happy.
The end result was just perfect in function and fitment and looked so good it was a shame to put a body over it.

Word to the wise if ya’ were to ever drop off a project like that to a custom fabrication shop and agree to a blank check build you are gonna end up paying for one of the shop owners kids college education - good workmanship don’t come cheap and cheap don’t bring good workmanship results.

I had plans to put a k5 body on a short bed frame and stretch the k5 to the right length adding the space in between the top and the door.
I believe now @folkenheath is planning on something similar.

I saw a guy on facebook that cut and moved the wheel wells back to get the new frame/alxe location centered. Forget what frame he was using

Well the k5 already has the rear axle pretty far back but I guess it could go further back if you don't put the fuel tank in the back
