All,
I'm working on a friend's 2005 Saturn Ion with a 2.2. It's under powered and stalling out at idle. The image attached is the engine codes it's giving. They've done plugs, wires, and o2 sensor. I've read before that the 2.2 is famous for intake gasket issues. Also the p0106 refers to the mass air flow sensor. Could that cause all these codes?

the p0068 Just means one of the sensors used to calculate fuel ratio isn't working right and that will cause misfires- loss of power

and the first code displayed is Manifold Absolute Pressure id start with that... unfortunately a leaking intake manifold could cause that if it was bad enough.

So it turned out it had two problems. I started out by testing the MAP sensor. It tested fine. I replaced the intake gasket and it stopped stalling and idling rough. Ran like a champ up till about 50 miles per hour. It went in to limp mode at one point while test driving it and tripped a code saying #3 misfire. I pulled the coil pack and found that the #3 post had a couple of big cracks in it. Threw a new coil pack on there and now it runs like a champ at any rpm.

I have nothing to add here other then to say our old 05 Saturn outlook was a big piece of **** and I wish it would have burned to the ground. I was thrilled when they went out of business. Rant off now.

I would have to agree with the piece of **** part. It's a friends car thankfully. Now that it's running right, it isn't shifting right. Seems that it's never totally functional.
