Tried searching but didn't find exactly the same situation as I am experiencing.

I have a 05 Silverado 1500 with the LS package. This truck has the dual climate AC.

The blower motor works on Speed Settings 1-4 just fine but does not work on high speed. The blower motor also continues to run on the off setting. It feels like its blowing at the same speed as when set on low. The AC compressor does turn off when the speed selector switch is set to the off position.

Is this an issue with the blower motor resistor? I'd like to confirm the issue before throwing money at parts.

Buy the resistor with lifetime warranty as I have to replace them about every 18 months. The new style comes with an adapter harness. I tried to get the original style from the dealer but they were discontinued and replaced with an updated one. 2-3 of my friends have had same experience with the originals lasting 5-10 years and the aftermarket every 1-2 years. At least it is only a 5-10 minute job with a couple nut drivers .

Make sure it isn't running when the car is off. Gm had a few house fires related to this if I recall correctly. Pull the fuse if you have to.
