Looking to replace the radio in my wife's vehicle with one from a higher trim package. Despite my best efforts I'm not finding a clear-cut way to get around the message depicted in the picture. A trip to the dealer isn't into the cards considering it's a radio from the salvage yard.
From what I gather It's a VIN mismatch with the ECM. Has anyone had any success with the same or similar GM products of the same era? Thanks
Yeah that won’t work. That process works for the older radios.
Your problem isn’t fixable at the dealer either if you have a used radio. Reason being is the vin is not capable of being overwritten by the dealer.
If the dealer was replacing a radio with one from an ac Delco repair center they have one shot to program the current vin in. They could have ordered the radio with the vin programmed in by the exchange center too.
I will say this they effectively made these radios bricks if they aren’t in the car they were installed in originally. Last I heard only AC Delco radio repair centers had the ability to program radios.
