Hey guys i would like to get a programmer for my truck, 08 2500hd 6.0L Can you point me in the right direction? i want to be able to adjust the spedo for bigger tires.
Also i would like an intake Suggestions? and Exhaust

Thanks
Tom

I think Edge or Bullydog both make programmers. Either one would be good. Those are the only two I have experience with.

Intake I would look at a AEM Brute Force, "dry element." Anything with oil has the potential of seeping backwards and ruining your MAF sensor or other things.

Exhaust I would look at Magnaflow for a good deep tone, with less drone, lifetime warranty, and best flow on the market. Or if you like the flowmaster sound, I'd go with a 50 series heavy duty, it has a moderate tone with 4" internals for better flow. They have sounded good on everything we put them on.

What ever you do just dont buy a programmer expecting to up your HP and torque on a gas motor. Theres some minor stuff to be tweaks for a couple more numbers maybe but dont buy into any of that "100hp!" programmers for gassers like the diesel trucks. It just doesnt work like that.

I did a bunch of things to my 2003 6.0, some good and some bad. I used elelbrock shorty headers with titec coating, they make it sound and run better but lasted 5 years. The flowmaster catback sounds great in the single exhaust style but only lasted 3 years and was a rotted mess. I have a hypertech programmer that works well with tire size changes, shift points, slight power upgrade etc. The aem brute force that was suggested is the best one since its a dry element. Also have a jet performance throttlebody spacer , bbk throttlebody, msd wires and bosch plugs. Seems to run real well with 37s and 4:10 gears.

Ill be stepping up to bbk stainless headers and a stainless magnaflow catback, which with living in the rust belt what i should have done years ago. Also just got off the phone and will be ordering instead jba headers and stainless dual exhaust.

Also have a jet performance throttlebody spacer , .

whats the point in the spacer? on the true throttle bodies back in the day it was used for longer spacing between the intake and the throttlebody to help better mix the fuel and the air.

on a new muiltiport vehicle all your doing is adding space, which in turn takes that much longer for the air to reach the intake.

or am i missing something here:dunno:

Not to hijack but cant you get a gas programmer that gets rid of the delay when you step on it? I have a 06 with a 5.3 and you can really feel the drive by wire, theres a delay for sure when you step on it.

With the throttlebody, granetelli mas air sensor and the spacer there is a decent differance, the spacer has swirl marks in it for flow.

My buddy has a magnaflow on his 09 6.2 and it sounds awsome when you step on it and you can barely hear hit just running around normal.
He also has the edge programmer with the heads up display on the dash and really likes it.

As for the throttle body spacer if you want your truck to make a whistle noise than go for it but on fuel injected trucks it doesn't do enough of anything to justify the money. Its better to just get a good cold air and port and polish the throttle body.

Throttle body spacers o a dry manifold injection systems are next to useless. In theory theyre suppose to be there to "tune" the intake charge of the manifold, hence the swirls but I really doubt a difference.

Ill put it to you this way with the spacer, its been there along with all the other mods for over 5 years. If it doesnt do anything my bad....lol. Also there is no whistle with this one. I have no idea if it works at all, i added all the other parts at the same time.

Anyone have any of the jba stuff on their truck..? Im wondering how it is.

Also i was wondering if the programmer will get rid of the delay when i stomp on it. it seems like the truck learned how i drive like a dick and wont let me stomp on it ie there is a delay for full throttle

That is most likely torque management that is done by the ECM. Don't know about gas, but on the diesel trucks some programmers have the ability to remove torque management. I personally don't see a problem with it myself since all it's doing is just trying to keep the transmission, driveline, and rearend from excessive wear/damage from "shocking" the drivetrain by stabbing the throttle at a dead stop.

yea, its weird though it will up shift and down shift then give me full or almost full throttle, kinda sucks when pulling out infront of someone(whoops too close) and the truck wont really move, sort of like its getting confused on what i want it to do...
