2012 CARNAGE thread

Somehow I managed to screw up tying the cooler down on the back of Wally on Sat evening and it came open on the rescue run and spilled some grub. Dad picked it up and flashed me down so it wasn't too bad.
I also left some vinyl and even green paint in coyote.
Otherwise it was a pretty clean run.

Only thing I have is the fuseable link for the stereo amp shorted out at the battery and caught on fire. Burned part of the battery cable but nothing some electrical tape couldn't fix.

Had to suffer through no radio

In chronological order.....Killed my right rear taillight approaching the squeeze obstacle in Helldorado. Then the squeeze put a dent in the left side of my cherry body :haha: from the headlight to the taillight on that side...:doah: The waterfall then murdered my tailgate. Saturday, a sector shaft before we even started up Rusty Nail, and lost the cv ball races in there somewhere. Sunday did some more cab narrowing on Rocker Knocker (my pride took a beating on that one too).

Cutting brake started sticking so capped that line and wheeled with 3 brakes. Broken fire extinguisher clamp after baja rock bouncing.

Driver's side front hub on Green Day, Passenger side hub on Metal Masher and 40 feet later the rear driveshaft u-joints in the CV. Thanks to the Metal Masher pit crew and Destroya Montoya having some u-joint straps and bolts we fixed it on the trail and babied it down.

Glad I had plenty of spare u-joints and hubs.

Welcome to owning deeper gearing.:haha:

The wife smashed a rear shock, and scraped the paint off the doubler x member and sliders on rock chucker, bolts on the cage loose, lost a little PS fluid, my tranny dip stick got stuck so I yanked it out, it fixed itself.

Broke a shackle bolt, after posting as a relief driver on the POOF run once my sis Becky couldn't push clutch in anymore.

She claims the breakage was all me :dunno:

I "clearanced" the right rear quarter panel, and shaved 10#'s off the rear bumper.

Billings Canyon blew the front R/P. Stephen Watson from ORD called his Dad James and had a new set of 5.38's in Grand Junction by 4:40pm! Thanks Guys you are great!!!! Found a shop in Fruita Co to help put me back together called S & S Metal Works and they kicked butt to get me back on the trail! They worked untill 10:30pm that night and got me going again. They found that the R/P was put in incorrectly the first time! Headded to Moab that night then the next day at Area BFE after Green Day trail ride on the dirt road coming out the drivers side rear Chrome Moly axel shaft broke! I had the stock axels so I put them in and all was good! The rest of the trip I had no more carnage! I guess that is what happens when you do not get to test drive before you hit the trails!:dunno:

What broke on the axle? it looks like the pic it was welded to the hub and the weld broke?

It was a Chrome Moly Axel for the rear 14 bolt. I got told it is a manufacturing defect and I will get a warranty.:waytogo: Zhit happens I guess! It did break & spun right at the hub, not even 30 miles on it!:eek1:

smashed a rear quarter window out on the pass side, made a fan bolt touch the radiator and put a little hole in one tube. Window was no big deal, put some two part stuff yates had on the radiator, ate some lunch and didn't leak the rest of the rusty crack run or on metal masher.
