2012 Chevrolet Caprice PPV

Shifter in my G8 had the up/down taps from the factory, wonder if anyone has swapped one in.

It's pretty much a direct bolt in. The 2011-13 Caprice and the 2008-09 G8 share many interior and suspension parts.
The 2014-17 Caprice and the 2014-17 SS share the same interior.

Unfortunately the two interior designs are not interchangeable. The 14+ dashes, steering wheels, door panels, and consoles are much nicer looking.

I'm going to drop it off for exhaust work this Friday after work at a guy's shop out in the woods of SW Washington. He's a PPV enthusiast and trying to grow his small side business of exhaust, turbos, and tuning PPVs and LS powered vehicles, so we made a good deal on the exhaust and tuning. Thing of it is, an Uber home from this guy's shop is heckin expensive.
If I schedule it ahead of time, it's $153.95.

If I schedule it at the moment I need it, the price could be closer to $105-115.

That said, I have an '84 Jimmy with a Class III tow hitch and a U-Haul dolly is only $44.95. A full trailer is 10 bucks more.
But their website does not recommended towing a 2012 Caprice PPV with a 1984 GMC Jimmy.

Question 1:
Can my Jimmy (safely) tow my Caprice 55 miles on public highways?
I suspect maybe.

Question 2:
Is lying to U-Haul about my towing specs a surefire way to get in a heap of trouble in case of an accident?
I suspect yes.

Question 3:
Am I better off renting a U-Haul van and trailer combo for $84.95?
I suspect no, due to the additional cost of $0.99/ mile and my round trip is 108 miles. This would cost more and be more work than the Uber.

Suggestions and advice are welcome.

i think U haul is overly cautious, after the Exploder debacle. The U haul trailers are pretty stout, surge brakes, you k5 could do it, suppose it would depend on the tongue weight, with k5 wheel base. Might try an equipment rental yard for a trailer or a dolly, less concerned.

If my little S10 can fit on the uhaul trailer, I wouldn't be worried about your economy car...

That said, the tow dolly will be less weight overall and be fine but you have the added time to disconnect the driveline for RWD.

The main thing is what is the weight rating on your hitch, 5K? I'm finding about 4200 lb curb weight for your car alone, the trailer would likely be too much weight for the K5 but a tow dolly will be under 5K total.

They also didn't balk at my dad's 1972 rancho with 2017 f150 tow vehicle

I believe my hitch is a 5K lb Class III.

Dropping the driveshaft is more work than I want to do. Maybe Uber its my best option

Exhaust is done, tune has been slightly fiddled with, improving idle, and all check engine light codes have been deleted with HP Tuners. It's almost my time to shine at the DEQ!

We'll see if we can't get this bad boy titled and registered today yet before the sun goes down.

evap should should attempt @ every 4 key cycles and short drive. The o2 needs a steady highway speed run 50-55 for several miles, best to avoid braking and heavy go pedal when attempting o2 monitor

Here's the full drive cycle I found on newcaprice.com

I doubt my cheap Harbor Freight scan tool will tell me if those 2 sensors are ready for emissions, so I'm planning to follow the cycle instructions to a T and then go back to the DEQ next week.
